Is breastfeeding killing your sex life?
I came across a blog piece written by James Braly for the New York Times about how breastfeeding was ruining his sex life… as in it was turning him off his wife. Braly makes a point that often men are left out of the equation and its just “mother and child”, but he asserts that actually, its mother, father and child, asking if ‘whats good for the goose and gosling, necessarily good for the gander?’
I’m a big fan of the motto: to each his or her own/ do what’s right for you (within the boundaries of not hurting anyone)… my personal favourite is “whatever rocks your boat, man”. Breaking it down, breastfeeding has been shown to be the healthier option for both mother and child, with a number of studies claiming that children that were breast fed have str

onger immunities and often display signs of a higher intelligence than those of us that were given good ol’ SMA (baby formula).
Plus, haven’t we all heard how miraculous and beautiful a breastfeeding mother is? I mean, Vanity Fair but one on their cover! Look how much she’s glowing! Apart from the occasional milk squirt you’re bound to get if you were to suck on them, which guy would be turned off by this woman?
Not many? My thoughts exactly.
But reading further, I was horrified to find out that his wife still breastfeeds their five and half year old – and in a public place like Central Park in New York City too!
Why a mother would continue to breast feed a child after its grown a full set of teeth (hence, can chew), can walk and talk, and is in school is beyond me? I mean, does the kid still get any essential nutrients from sucking on his mother’s tits. I mean, at which point can her husband demand to have exclusive access back?
Personally, I feel sorry for this man and I suspect writing this blog post on the New York Times website was a way for him to communicate something he probably has been trying to tell his wife for ages.
Breast feeding 5 year old kids is just unnecessary and totally unsexy. I mean, would you be turned on by any of these women?:
and this one just plain freaky…

As a man, one of the most depressing experiences of my life was when I realized that I no longer find breasts appealing. NONE. Any erotic qualities they had disintegrated the day I saw my wife breastfeed. This was not a fun realization to make.
